Trip costs and what’s included
What shapes the price of a trip, what is included, and what to check before you pay.
Practical information last reviewed October 2026. Conditions change — we confirm the details for your dates when we send your program.
What shapes the price of a trip
Every trip is priced for your group, dates and choices, so we quote rather than list one fixed price. These are the things that make the biggest difference:
- Group size — costs for vehicles, guides and cooks are shared, so per-person prices fall as groups grow
- Season — summer is the busy season in the north
- Hotel standard, from simple guesthouses to the best available in each town
- Flights or road — flying north saves days but depends on the weather
- Vehicle type — cars and coaches on main roads, four-wheel-drive jeeps beyond
- Permits, porters, camping crew and equipment on treks and expeditions
- Number of days, and whether you are travelling privately or as part of a group
Before you book
Each program page lists the services included on that trip. Your written quotation sets out exactly what is and is not included — international flights, travel insurance, tips and personal expenses are usually extra — along with the deposit, when the balance is due and the cancellation terms.
Ask us about anything that is not clear before you pay.

Depending on the program: airport meet and assist, hotels, transport, local guides and permits — and on treks, the camping crew, tents and equipment, porters and three meals a day.
Questions to ask
- Is there a single-room supplement?
- Which meals are included in towns?
- What happens if a domestic flight is cancelled?
- How much is the deposit, and when is the balance due?
- What are the cancellation and refund terms?
