Profile

From five tents and one jeep

Najeeb Ahmed Khan founded Himalayan Holidays in 1999 with five tents and a single jeep. Under his leadership it has grown into one of Pakistan’s leading tour operators — organizing everything from trekking expeditions to remote valleys for as few as two people, to outdoor corporate events for 1,200 guests in luxury tents.

He is Chairman of the Pakistan Association of Tour Operators (PATO), the national body representing Pakistan’s tour operators.

Under his leadership the company has taken part in major international tourist expos, including ITB Berlin and World Travel Market London, and built alliances with expedition and safari operators in Africa and Central Asia.

In 2011 he accepted the Virgin Holidays World Responsible Tourism Award at World Travel Market, London, on behalf of Himalayan Holidays — winner of the Best in a Mountain Environment category, chosen from 1,200 entries in 51 countries.
