Pakistan Travel Guide

Safety and travelling in Pakistan

Official travel advisories, insurance, and the support we provide on the ground.

Practical information last reviewed October 2026. Conditions change — we confirm the details for your dates when we send your program.

Before You Book

Read the official advice, then ask us about your route

Travel advice differs from area to area and changes over time. Some border regions are closed to visitors or need special permits, while the main tourist routes in the north and the historic cities are visited by many travellers every year.

Check your own government’s advice before you book and again before you travel, and make sure your travel insurance covers every region and activity on your itinerary — including trekking at altitude and helicopter evacuation if you are going into the mountains.

If anything in the advice concerns you, tell us. We will explain the current situation on your route and suggest alternatives where needed.

Support on the ground

  • Local guides with you throughout
  • First-aid trained trek leaders
  • Safety gear for adventure activities
  • Medical treatment if required
  • Emergency evacuation and helicopter rescue arrangements

How we look after you

Good to know

  • Photography of military installations, bridges and airports is prohibited
  • Ask permission before photographing people, especially women
  • Avoid travelling on mountain roads at night
  • Do not swim in northern rivers
  • Dress modestly, particularly in rural areas and at religious sites
