Soon and Sakesar
Three days of lakes, camping and team games in the Soon valley and on Sakesar, the highest peak of the Salt Range.
A hidden valley in the Punjab
Beyond the north, one of Pakistan’s loveliest valleys is Wadi-e-Soon, in the Salt Range north-west of Khushab. The valley runs some 56 km from Padhrar village to Sakesar, the highest peak of the Salt Range. It is not as cold as the valleys up north, but it has beautiful lakes, waterfalls, forest and natural pools, along with ancient sites and fertile farms.
Sabhral, Khoora, Nowshera, Kufri, Anga, Ugali, Uchali and Bagh Shams-ud-Din are its main towns, and Kanhatti Garden, Sodhi Garden, Da’ep and Sakesar are favourite places to visit. At 1,527 m, Sakesar was once the summer headquarters for the deputy commissioners of Attock, Mianwali and Sargodha, and it is the only mountain in this part of the Punjab to receive snow in winter.
Places of interest
Uchali Lake, Jalhar Lake and Amb Fort.
