Rash Lake Trek
A short, steep trek from Hopar in Nagar to one of the highest lakes in Pakistan, facing Spantik, Malubiting and the peaks above the Barpu glacier.
Above the Barpu glacier
Rash Lake sits on a ridge high above the Barpu glacier, on the Nagar side of the Hunza valley. The trek starts at Hopar, crosses the glacier to shepherds’ summer settlements, and then climbs a steep, sustained path to the lake. On a clear morning the view runs from Spantik and Malubiting to the distant Hunza peaks.
It is a compact trek — four nights out — but the climb to the lake is real work, so we take it slowly and allow a free day at the top. Fit trekkers can walk up the ridge above the lake for a still wider view. The trip also leaves time for Karimabad and the villages of upper Hunza.
