K-2 Base Camp Trek
Through the Karakoram range to the foot of K-2 — across the most heavily glaciated region of the world outside the polar regions.
The Baltoro to Concordia
This expedition crosses the Karakoram to K-2 Base Camp, traversing more than 55 km of the Baltoro glacier. Along the way the trail passes some of the most dramatic mountain scenery on earth — Trango Tower, Gasherbrum IV, Broad Peak — before reaching Concordia, where four of the world’s fourteen 8,000 m peaks come into view.
Day-by-day itinerary
- Days 1 – 2
Islamabad & flight to Skardu
Arrive in Islamabad, rest and acclimatize, then take the spectacular flight along the Indus to Skardu.
- Days 3 – 4
Jeep to Askoli, trek to Korofon
Four-wheel-drive jeep to Askoli, the last village, followed by the first day of trekking to Korofon.
- Days 5 – 7
Jullah & Payu
Trek through Jullah to Payu, with a rest day while porters prepare their provisions for the glacier.
- Days 8 – 11
The Baltoro Glacier
Several days on the Baltoro with views of Trango Tower, Gasherbrum IV and Broad Peak.
- Day 12
Rest day at Concordia
The great junction of glaciers, with a gorgeous view of K-2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum and Baltoro Kangri.
- Day 13
K-2 Base Camp
An early start for K-2 Base Camp and a visit to the Gilkey Memorial.
- Days 14 – 18
Return trek
Retrace the route via Concordia and Urdukas back down to Askoli.
- Days 19 – 21
Skardu & Islamabad
Jeep back to Skardu, fly to Islamabad and enjoy a day at leisure.
- Day 22
Departure
Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
