Children Outdoor Education
Camp school programs that take learning outside the classroom — building self-management, teamwork and self-esteem through direct experience.
We borrow this land from our children
We don’t inherit this land from our ancestors — we borrow it from our children. Himalayan Holidays Outdoor Education runs four camp schools, at Khanpur, Gilgit, Karor and Nathiagali.
We believe that living together away from home and school gives students new experiences through which they best develop self-management skills, interpersonal skills and self-esteem.
Our aim is to provide high-quality experiential learning that equips students to deal effectively with the opportunities and challenges of a changing world. Camp school programs complement classroom teaching: they deepen students’ understanding of concepts, processes and issues from the school curriculum through direct experience and observation outside the classroom.
What the programs build
Values education
Values-based activities underpin the whole camping experience — the pursuit of knowledge, setting high personal standards, and self-acceptance and respect.
Respect for others
Getting along with others, being connected and having empathy — and a sense of social and civic responsibility, where every student feels part of the community and able to contribute.
Environmental responsibility
Living in the environment with minimal impact, caring for it and understanding the need for sustainability.
Reflection and growth
Inclusive activities that balance the physical, intellectual, emotional and ethical sides of personal development, and build habits of thinking and reflection.
Qualified camp staff
Camp school managers are qualified teachers accredited in first aid and aquatic safety. They help design a program for each group and tailor activities to the theme of each camp.
